Cabinet Lead-Coating Policy
Most cabinet projects proceed normally. This policy explains what happens when an older or questionable coating may be regulated as lead-based paint.
Our standard
Southern Changes Painting does not refinish or repaint cabinets containing lead-based coatings.
If site conditions indicate that cabinets or existing coatings may fall under EPA lead regulations, additional testing by a qualified professional may be required before work can proceed.
If regulated lead is identified, we will not perform the cabinet refinishing work and can refer the homeowner to an appropriately certified contractor.
What this means for homeowners
Southern Changes Painting is not a lead-abatement contractor. If a questionable coating is encountered, work that could disturb it will stop until the situation is properly evaluated. A consumer test performed by an uncertified employee is not treated as proof of an EPA RRP exemption.
